Notice: Adjustment of National Holidays in Compliance with Government Policy

According to the amendments to the Act on the Implementation of Commemorative and Festival Holidays passed in the third reading by the Legislative Yuan on May 9, 2025, the national holidays for 2025 have been adjusted as follows:

1. Increase in Number of National Holidays
The number of national holidays has increased from 11 days to 16 days annually.

2. Newly Added National Holidays

·        Labor Day (previously observed only by certain sectors, now a nationwide holiday): May 1

  • Teachers’ Day: September 28
  • Taiwan Restoration and Battle of Guningtou Memorial Day (formerly Restoration Day): October 25
  • Constitution Day: December 25
  • Chinese New Year's Eve is now officially designated as a holiday

Please note:

s  Since September 28, 2025 (Teachers’ Day), falls on a Sunday, a compensatory day off will be observed on Monday, September 29.

s  October 25, 2025 (Restoration Day), falls on a Saturday, so the compensatory day off will be Friday, October 24.

3. Indigenous Peoples’ Exclusive Holidays:

Indigenous groups may designate 3 days based on their traditional festivals, bringing their total to 18 national holidays per year.

 

This policy aims to promote fairness in holiday allocation and to honor cultural diversity.
